Rainbow River is a culmination of carved wooden figures based on experiences I have had in nature, whether physically or emotionally. Some are based on memories of things I have seen with my own eyes, while others are imaginative conjurings of my desire to have a deeper cerebral understanding with the natural world – which I feel we as humans are merely visitors to. Every step further from the primordial roots of our natural role dissolves our fluency in speaking outside of ourselves, and I continue to feel curious about what moments and relationships we are missing. Each piece was carved by hand of wood and painted with care at my home in Portland - a special thank you to my wife Heidi for her unwavering support.
